First and foremost, thanks for using this. I wrote it because I found it useful and a good practice of AppleEvents... I figured I'd do two things. One, release it so other people can use it too, and Two, release the source so everyone can use and improve it. If you like it, pay absolutely nothing. Well, at least send me an email at jyurek@wpi.edu so I know how many people are using this.
Renamer is free and open software, such that you can modify it and release it, but you have to release the source if it is modified. You can distrubute just the application as long as it isn't modified, though.

Use of Renamer
Drag files onto Renamer and it will perform the tasks asked of it. When files are dragged onto it, it prompts you for options. You can remove filename extensions, or add them (if you're working with silly Windows people who need them), and take out other things that clutter filenames, like underscores and braces,etc. And new to 1.2 is the ability to change file Types and Creators. Folder are now handled correctly, by recursing into them until it hits bottom instead of renaming the folder itself.
Double-clicking on the application itself will bring about a very boring interface which should probably be avoided. Hit Command-P for the prefs or select Preferences from the menu, even though you get them when you drag and drop anyway. The boring interface shouldn't really be used, except maybe to see the about box.
Now, with the release of Renamer 1.3, you can change the Types and Creators of your file with the same ease with which you change their names. Select the check box at the top of the Prefs dialog and choose your conversion (Type/Creator to Extension or vise versa) and any other choices you wish and Renamer takes care of the rest. Note that the Type/Creator <-> Extension conversion happens before everything else (though the order will soon become customizable), so removing or adding extensions has no effect on the translation. Specifying the Type and/or Creator will override the extension conversion.
Caveats
This version (1.3) is mainly a feature release. Renamer 2.0 (or 1.5, I haven't decided what to call it), will be a *HUGE* interface update. I plan on cleaning every single part of the interface up to be more intuitive and better looking.

There is no warranty, expressed or implied, that come with this software. It is provided "as is." I'm pretty sure you can't screw anything up that you don't put right into the program, but I don't want to have to fix it for you. ;) All I can say is that it works on my machine.
